The Guelaguetza Returns to San Diego
The Coalition of Indigenous Communities of Oaxaca is celebrating 25 years of holding the Guelaguetza in San Diego County—a festival that was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and is now back on its feet. The Guelaguetza brings together thousands of attendees for a day reminiscent of Oaxaca, offering a journey through Oaxacan cuisine, dance, and textile art. This family-friendly event captivates both locals and visitors, rooted in community work and the collaborative efforts of an intergenerational Oaxacan community, dedicated to preserving and sharing the cultural richness of the eight Indigenous regions of Oaxaca, Mexico.
We invite you to cover this event and join the effort to promote the artistic expression of the children and youth who bring this significant event to life, as well as the promotion of the cultural diversity present in the county.
