PRESS RELEASE
COCIO Announces Postponement of Guelaguetza San Diego
The Coalición de Comunidades Indígenas de Oaxaca (COCIO) announces that Guelaguetza San Diego, originally scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Palomar College in San Marcos, has been postponed.
In light of current circumstances affecting our communities across San Diego County, we have made this difficult decision with the well-being of our community members, families, participants, and visitors at the center of our considerations.
Guelaguetza is rooted in reciprocity, collective care, and the relationships that sustain our Indigenous Oaxacan communities. These values guide both our celebration and our responsibility to the people who make it possible.
We recognize that this announcement comes at short notice and understand the disappointment it may bring. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the communities, artisans, vendors, dancers, musicians, volunteers, community partners, and supporters who have dedicated their time and resources to preparing the celebration.
Our commitment to sharing our living cultures and strengthening community connections continues. A new date has been secured and shared internally with the members of our coalition. We are coordinating the remaining details and will announce the rescheduled date through our official communication channels.
Updates will be shared at cocioguelaguetza.com and on Instagram, @guelaguetzasd. We appreciate your help in sharing this announcement with those planning to attend.
Thank you for your understanding, solidarity, and continued support.
